It looks like a compromise has between reached regarding a controversial development located at South Shepherd and Gray Street.

A hearing is underway before the City Planning Commission to try to settle a dispute between Weingarten Realty Investors and residents living near the River Oaks Shopping Center.

As 2 on the Beat previously reported, the residents are upset about the development of a parking garage and open air wine bar that will be located on the balcony.

The residents have voiced their concerns about lighting and noise at www.stopshepherdnoise.org

Weingarten has now offered a compromise that could make it easier to get a variance from the commission.

According to the proposed compromise: Weingarten will fully  enclose the balcony,  lower signage, refrain from using any up-lighting and  minimize the brightness of  the lights.

Weingarten also says there will be no live music  allowed on the balcony.

It seems most, but not all residents have verbally agreed to the compromise.

2 on the Beat will have more details today at KPRC Local 2 at Six.
