The Houston Police Department is teaming up with residents and businesses in the East End to help reduce crime.
The announcement on Tuesday resembled a a small neighborhood party, with elected officials, police handing out information and Fiesta Grocery providing fresh fruit and bottled water.
It’s a sixty day intensive effort, and HPD’s goal is to reduce crimes like break-ins, robberies and assaults by 10 percent.
In addition to fighting crime, the department says it wants to form a partnership with residents.
