Congressman Ted Poe For Governor Of Texas?

He’s been a state district judge, a member of  congress, so why not Governor of  Texas?

That’s what one group is asking after it launched a petition drive to encourage  Congressman Ted Poe to become a candidate for governor of  Texas.

Their motto is “We must give Ted Poe that ink pen in 2010.”

The group likes the idea that Congressman Poe supports putting the Texas National Guard on the border.

Supporters consider him the best hope for Texas, instead of having to pick what they call the “lesser of two evils”

I assume they are referring to the other announced republican candidates in the 2010 GOP primary, Governor Rick Perry and U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

So what does the congressman think about this move to draft him as a candidate for governor?

The Congressman’s spokesperson, DeeAnn Thigpen, told 2 on The Beat, ” Congressman Poe enjoys representing the 2nd Congressional District of  Texas  and looks forward to continuing to serve in the United States Congress.”
