The Bayou City Showdown – Featuring 3 Republican Candidates For Governor

It’s  not being called a debate, but on Wednesday, February 24th, you have a chance to see all three Republican candidates for Texas Governor  together in the same room.

TX Candidates for Governor, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Rick Perry, Debra Medina

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison,  Governor Rick Perry, and former Wharton County GOP Chair Debra Medina, have accepted an invitation from the Harris County Republican Party to attend the Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner.

The event will be held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel at 5150 Westheimer Road across from the Galleria.

HCRP Chairman Jared Woodfill’s email refers to this as the “Bayou City Showdown.”

Maybe he should have called it the Bayou City Smackdown, instead?

The latest polls show Governor Perry holding  a comfortable lead over both his primary challengers.

But,  with this event being held so close to election day, you  can expect to hear Medina and  Hutchison aggressively attacking Perry’s record on education, the economy, toll roads and other unpopular mandates he initiated as Governor of  Texas.

The audience that night will consist of  the GOP’s conservative base – the kind of likely voters the candidates will need to win the primary, or at least, make the runoff.
