Eating A Cupcake With a Houston Rocket

It’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to Houston Rockets’ star forward Shane Battier  without being considered a stalker. 🙂

Today, he and his wife, Heidi, are working behind the counter at the grand opening of the new Sprinkles Cupcakes in Highland Village.

Sprinkles founders Candace and Charles Nelson were also on hand at the grand opening to present the Battier Take Charge Foundation with a $25,000 gift.

The purpose of the foundation is to provide college scholarships to deserving children, and to make life a little easer for the less fortunate, according to the Battiers.

Since its founding in 2010, the Battier Take Charge Foundation has raised more than $120, 000 to help local at-risk students continue their education at the university level.

All I really wanted was a cupcake, but it’s nice to see Battier and his wife, along with Sprinkles, doing such a wonderful job in the community.
