Controller Ronald Green Tackles New Challenges

Controller Appointed to National League of Cities’ Futures Panel

Houston City Controller Ronald C. Green has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ “CityFutures Panel on Public Finance” for 2011. The panel studies and reports on best practices in public finance.

The National League of Cities (NLC) is the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States.  Working in partnership with the 49 state municipal leagues, the National League of Cities serves as a resource to and an advocate for the more than 19,000 cities, villages, and towns it represents.  More than 1,600 municipalities of all sizes pay dues to NLC and actively participate as leaders and voting members in the organization.

The CityFutures Panel will meet in March in Washington, D.C., concurrent with the NLC’s Congressional City Conference. The CityFutures Program features a panel with Green and colleagues from Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois and other states and cities who will address “The Future of Public Sector Work,” including topics such as pensions, health care benefits, and changing city-employee relations. The CityFutures panel will meet again at the NLC’s convention in November.
