Fugitive Daycare Owner Waives Extradition

On Saturday, fugitive day care operator Jessica Tata surrendered to authorities in Nigeria.

She is accused of leaving seven children alone while she went shopping. Four children died in a fire that started at the daycare. 

U.S. Marshals are escorting Tata back to Houston.  In the meantime, she is booked into the Fulton County Jail, which released this photo of   Tata Monday morning.

According to authorities there, Tata was present during an extradition hearing before Judge Richard Hicks, during which she waived extradition.

Members of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and U.S. Marshals were in the courtroom.

Arrangements will be made for her transport back to Texas.
