As Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords recovers in a Houston hospital from a gunshot wound to the head, the intern who helped save her life will soon be honored in Houston.
Daniel Hernandez had only been on the job for less than a week when the tragic events in Tucson unfolded. He has been honored by President Barack Obama and will soon be honored by the Victory Fund.

The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund will honor Daniel Hernandez, Jr., an intern for Rep. Gabriel Giffords (D-Ariz.), at its Houston Champagne Brunch on Sunday, April 17. President Barack Obama called Hernandez a hero for helping to save Giffords’ life after a mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz., in January.
