Congratulations to the William A. Lawson Institute for Peace and Prosperity.
WALIPP-TSU Preparatory Academy for middle school boys is another step closer to become a state charter school.
Sources tell 2 On The Beat that on Thursday the State Board of Education Committee on School Initiatives recommended WALIPP for a state charter.
The full State Board of Education will likely vote to approve the award on Friday, September 24, 2010.
This will be the realization of a dream after supporters, parents and Dr. Lawson worked for years to get the school recognized with this prestigious designation.
This is a positive step in the right direction, especially considering that we often hear so many negative things about poorly run charter schools in the Houston area.
WALIPP has a strong reputation for student achievement and the school is believed to be solid financial ground.
