Fighting Cancer with a Great Conversation
December 9, 2008

The goal was to raise money for cancer research at M.D. Anderson.

The event featured a fun and fascinating conversation between two married political commentators described as “better than a fireworks display.”

Mary Matalin and James Carville

Republican Strategist Mary Matalin and her husband Democratic Strategist James Carville were in Houston Tuesday for  “A Conversation With a Living Legend.”

They captivated the crowd of nearly one thousand with their insight on the recent presidential election and politics in general.

The conversation was moderated by news veteran Sam Donaldson.

Dr. John Mendelsohn, the president of M.D. Anderson,  thanked  Carville and Matalin for  “graciously volunteering their time to help raise awareness of the problem of cancer and make a difference in the lives of those affected by it.”

Over the years, A Conversation With a Living Legend has raised more than $8 million for M.D. Anderson’s research, patient care and educational initiatives.

As a side note, 2 on the Beat stopped by the Children’s Art Project to purchase Christmas Cards and a great necklace that I plan to give to my sister for Christmas (or just maybe keep for myself)

Sales from the Children’s Art Project benefit the emotional, educational and recreational needs of young cancer patients.
