Since the 1950’s the Archer family has been a fixture in the local auto dealership business.
It began with a Rambler dealership, and today there are four Archer Dealerships in the Houston area. They are operated by the sons and grandsons of the founder.
I spoke with Bob Archer on Thursday after he received a letter from Chrysler alerting him that his franchise agreement is being revoked.
That’s a huge disappointment for him, since his brother, and three sons are continuing the family tradition of selling cars and trucks.
The stores will have to sell all of the vehicles by June 9, 2009. After that, they family plans to operate used car lots until they find the next franchise opportunity.
