Family and friends of bicyclist Leigh Boone said they did not want to talk about the crash that claimed her life, or the results of the Houston Police Department accident report.
(On March 30, 2009, Leigh was crush beneath a Houston Fire Department ladder truck when it collided with an HFD pumper engine as they raced to what they believed was an emergency. Houston Police say the ladder truck driver failed to use due caution when entering the intersection.)
They just wanted to honor her life and mourn her death, as they gathered at her favorite hangout Monday evening.
It was originally planned as a fundraiser to help with Leigh’s medical expenses.
Leigh’s loved one’s are still raising money to help defray funeral costs and promote some of her favorite causes.
