KENNEBUNKPORT — Following is a statement by former President Bush 41 on the discovery and verification of the remains of Navy pilot Michael “Scott” Speicher.I was deeply moved to know Scott’s remains have been identified because Joanne and Buddy, and Scott’s family and comrades, and all of us have been hoping to learn with certainty the exact nature of his sacrifice.  Of course, we already knew he was a hero, one who helped lead our way to a historic victory in the Gulf, but now his family and countrymen know — and history will finally record — that he was one of the very first patriots to give his life in the liberation of Kuwait.”
