Will Facebook Help Pick the Next U.S. Supreme Court Justice?

This is bringing social networking to a whole new level, but can it sway the President’s decision on choosing the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice?

With the announcement by U.S.  Supreme Court Justice David Souter  that he would  soon step down, President Barack Obama is facing increasing pressure to name a woman and/or Hispanic to the   seat.

Some Texans have narrowed in on their favorite choice:  13th Court of Appeals Justice Linda Yanez.

According to an email sent to 2 on the Beat, The Young Democrats group at the University of  Texas -Pan American  started a Facebook page to promote Justice Yanez  for  the U.S. Supreme Court.

“If you look at Linda’s qualifications and everything she’s done in her life, I cant think of anyone better qualified for the job,” said UTPA Young Democrats President Amber Arriaga.

Not to be outdone, supporters of Judge Sonia Sotomayor of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit  have also started a Facebook page.
