Last week I had the opportunity to watch the premiere episode of a new spy drama debuting on NBC/KPRC Local 2 in September.
Undercovers stars the handsome and talented actor Boris Kodjoe and actor Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The stars play married caterers who decide to return to their former lives as undercover CIA agents.
The show is fast paced, fun and focuses on the chemistry between the two leading characters.
Kodjoe is definitely eye-candy in this show, but he also plays a very believable gun-toting tough guy. He has incredible presence and it’s impossible to take your eyes off him!
You can watch the trailer for the show here: http://www.nbc.com/undercovers/
Some have compared this new show to the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
After the screening of the first episode, Kodjoe and co-writer J.J. Ambrams answered questions from the audience, which included people attending the National Association of Black Journalists convention in San Diego.
Both noted that this show is the only one on network television that features two leading Black actors.
The success of this new spy drama could help pave the way for other actors of color.
